As in the past, Datalogic Scanning continues its commitment to protecting the environment and our natural resources. One such commitment is Datalogic Scanning's on-going efforts to fully support and comply with waste reduction directives. These directives restrict the use of certain chemical substances in products Datalogic Scanning sells in certain countries, and also require that Datalogic Scanning products be collected from end-users at the end of their useful lives.

RoHS Compliance LogoRoHS

The EU directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) requires that producers of electrical and electronic equipment placed on the market after July 1, 2006 limit the use of certain restricted substances. Products cannot contain more than 0.1% lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs); or over 0.01% cadmium. Datalogic Scanning, Inc. has completed our efforts to comply with the EU RoHS directive. Most current products, cables, and accessories were converted to meet the directive.

The China RoHS regulation (Management Methods for Controlling Pollution by Electronic Information Products) requires that producers of electronic information products placed on the market on or after March 1st, 2007 declare if the product contains certain restricted substances. Producers of product that contain more than .1% lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), or over .01% cadmium, must declare its contents, label the product with the environmental-friendly usage period, and meet specified packaging requirements. Once the Catalog of restrictions is published, producers must also comply with the restrictions as outlined in the Catalog and certify their product via a Chinese certified testing lab.

WEEE "Wheelie Bin" LogoWEEE

The EU Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) requires that producers of electronic equipment who sell into EU countries: (1) label their equipment to notify customers that it needs to be recycled, (2) take back the equipment from customers at end of life, and (3) finance its recycling and reuse. The WEEE directive takes effect on August 13, 2005 and manufacturers must meet target objectives for recycling by December 2006.
